His passion for advocating for families and working with them to overcome adversity is fueled by years of playing professional baseball and overcoming adversity as a professional athlete spanning five years. After ending his career as a professional athlete, he shifted that passion while working at Group Homes and Psychiatric facilities mentoring and providing life skills training for young males. Matthew has continued to “pour into” young people with an ability to reach them where they are and offer unconditional, non-judgmental regard as they learn to improve self-worth, and advocate for self. Further, his work with parents has been extensive as the facilitator of the Parenting Education Course, “Super Stop,” as well as providing emotional support and guidance to parents in brief therapy. He attended Clark Atlanta University, graduating with a Masters in Social Work, and became fully licensed as a Clinical Social Worker.
